The Benefits of An Organized Home
When I hear the word organize, I think of the home where I grew up. Our home was always neat and tidy because Mama was organized.
A second-grade teacher, Mama had a master’s degree in children’s literature. We had bookshelves filled with delightful children’s books and those shelves were in good shape. There were no papers piled on top of the books. There were no objects in the way when I got ready to retrieve a book from the shelves.
Let It Go
There are many benefits to living in an organized home. The primary benefit is that you can find things. Disorganized people have let their clutter get away from them to the point where they cannot find anything. Disorganized people are unwilling to let anything go. Professional organizers, advice is that when you start going through your clutter, if you have not had your hands on the items in one year, let it go. The idea behind that is that if you have not handled the items for one full year, you probably do not need them. Further, you may not even know what you have.
Stop Bringing Items into Your Home
Bringing more items, that you do not need, into the home will create more clutter. Spending money on things you do not need is not a bargain. Further, spending money on something you cannot use is not wise financially. Stop spending money on things you know you do not need.
The Benefits of An Organized Home
There is a psychological benefit of getting rid of the clutter in your home. You may find that it makes more space available. For instance, if you have a garage full of junk, and you cannot get your cars into the garage, you should clear the clutter.
One of the benefits of an organized home is ominous. When somebody, who has lived alone in their home for many years, dies the home must be gone through. If the home is piled to the ceiling with a stockpile of things nobody wants or needs, those items will have to be given away or thrown away. Going through a home with many years of accumulated items can be exhausting.
In Summation
Instead of items being strewn around the floor, go through your clutter and put items you want to keep in plastic containers with lids. Go through boxes of old pictures and have them matted and framed. Consider putting the pictures on digital media and possibly putting the original pictures in a scrapbook. My oldest granddaughter is named after Mama. I have a lot of memorabilia that belonged to Mama and I am currently making scrapbooks for Mama’s namesake.
Consider cleaning out your closets, attics, basements, and garages. Think how much better you will feel if your home is organized. While you are at it, think how much you will enjoy more space. It will be great to get the cars in the garage where they belong.
